Courses: MARITIME RADIO COURSE

We are pleased to offer an ROC (M) classroom course (new start date):

Date: Wednesdays, starting May 1, 2024, for 3 weeks
Time: 6:30 to 9:00 pm
Instructor: Terry Carter
Location: St. James Anglican Church Hall (at Armdale Roundabout), Fuller Room
Cost: $160 ($144 for CPS-ECP members); options for e-book and 2nd family-members available
Maximum enrolment: 14 students

Courses: Navigation and safety Courses Winter/Spring 2024

ELECTRONIC MARINE NAVIGATION:
- Learn about hand-held and built-in GPS and chart plotter instruments and become familiar with the many features and capabilities of these devices. This course covers the features, capabilities, and uses of electronic charts and the variety of ways they are available - from chart plotters, PDA's, tablets, laptop and desktop computers. Learn about electronic programs like Maptech, OZI, FUGAWI and Nobeltec. The course runs on Mondays for 7 weeks, beginning May 13th, 2024. Cost is $240; CPS-ECP member rate is $204.

General: Your Halifax Squadron Needs You!- Invitation to Volunteer

CPS-ECP squadrons live or die by the input of volunteers. All our instructors and members of the Executive Committee are volunteers.

The Halifax Squadron invites you to apply to fill in several positions on the ExComm and to consider whether your talents including teaching.

We urge those of our members with a few hours to spare to consider sharing your knowledge via the classroom – or on the water. Instructor manuals are available for all courses, and all instructors complete a short program on pedagogy, with a focus on learning techniques and communication. While we are in need of VHF instructors, who must be proficient in this area, all offers in all areas will be enthusiastically received. For more details please contact the Squadron Commander.

Each seminar can be completed in one sitting of about 90 minutes; or proceed through at your leisure!.
